Journal entry November 2015:
What is it!?!
No ATMs? No change? No water? No food!
No quiet place? No solo time without some guy pestering me?
No surf? No teleportation? No, it’s not time for me to go home?
No, he didn’t say anything else?
No, just stop. I get the message… I’m acting selfish?
No apology for her hurtful words, does she know that?
No support?
…
hmmm… support.
That’s what it is.
The epitome of what life is about.
The enemy: lonely.
10 days without a soul to share it with.
Someone, anyone, to turn to and say,
“Did you see that?!”
“What the fuck was that?”
“hahahahah!”
“Oh, crap what should WE do?”
“Do you want to share?”
That’s what it all comes down to.
Not where you are, but WHO you are with.
Nothing else matters really.
It’s the person who is there, physically, right now to support you and vice versa.
It’s the simple act of interaction and pleasant conversation.
It’s the laughing at stupid mistakes and being the calm to the other’s panic.
It’s the one to hug and to give hugs.
Partnership.
Friendship.
Relationship.
It’s the SHIP that is sailed by many, not by one.
Navigating with a co-captain.
There is no solo trip.
There is a journey of lifelong lessons that form into lifelong memories.
Have a little fun.
Dance, sing, remember the face that was in front of you.
Who’s voice did you hear.
Who’s heart did you touch.
Who is he.
Who is she.
WHO, not WHAT.
WHO.
That’s what it is…
I am Melinda.
Who are you?
